the true, the good and the beautiful.

The adventures keep on coming! I truly feel so grateful to be having so many great experiences!

Lets start with a month and a half ago at the Pine House Café in Mt. Laguna, CA.  I had back to back shows over my weekend in the mountains!  The Café had a tremendous staff and delicious food that was locally sourced! The scenery  and the mountains were amazing.  It was great to have the opportunity to perform in such a beautiful setting!

Then I traveled down to Memphis, TN for a military event. I spent some time down on Beale Street where some of the greatest guitarist ever to walk the earth have played.  It was pretty awesome!

From there I went straight out to Catholic Youth Expeditions in Door County, WI for the 4th of July and CatholicFest. It was a beautiful day on the 4th and we watched the fireworks over Lake Michigan. All of the people and families who came made for a truly wonderful experience of the good the true and the beautiful! I felt very honored to be apart of such a wonderful event with amazing artists.

Speaking of the true the good and the beautiful, my next adventure took me to the unbelievable state of Alaska. It is the truly the final frontier, magnificent and vast.  My reason for going there was not music related, but rather to work on a family friends hunting cabin and scout a bit for a moose hunt I will be taking with my family in the fall. I was able to work as a deck hand for one of the commercial fishing boats that catch Sockeye Salmon. I enjoyed the work and learned a bit about a whole new trade.  We caught nine-hundred salmon in one day! Not too bad!

After Alaska, I was home in Minnesota for only a few days before heading out to San Diego where I had the honor of sharing a few of my songs at the Joggin for Frogmen 5k event. The effort raised money for the Navy SEAL Foundation and the 31 heroes project, both of which help to support the families of fallen military and many others.  I ran the 5k in army boots to honor my brother Nick, who was killed in action August 6, 2011.

Each day I do my best to remember what a remarkable gift it has been to travel the U.S. and play this music.  After setting foot on Alaskan soil, I realized that I have been to all fifty states of America. I am so grateful for the gifts God has given me and the opportunity to see all of the beauty that He has created.  There is something deep in my heart that tells me this is just the beginning…
